12 of 12 February 2009

Welcome to this month's rendition of 12 of 12, the most wonderfulist idea of Chad Darnell. Happy Birthday, Abe. The day started out dark, cold, wet and windy. And like any other Thursday, before my Friday off, it was busy hectic and the photos are from the beginning and the end of the day. Enjoy! and join us next month.

The morning commute. Very light. It is a state holiday: Lincoln's Birthday.

So, we are off to the Cash for College seminar. Received lots of information, but not sure how I feel about the presentation of the information. I may pontificate about that later in the application process.

Taxes and other items

Anyone out there expecting a refund from the state of California. I have a proposition for you; wonder if the FTB will agree to this arrangement.

We have to pay, AGAIN this year, and will wait until April 15th to do so. But here's my proposition:

Who out there is expecting $110 refund? Step right up. How about I pay you directly? That way the state can mark me as paid and you as paid. And they don't have to handle the transaction.

Yea, I know. They'd manage to mess it up too. It was a random thought.

Photos of the new equine addition will be posted shortly.

Our half a road trip was very successful. It was great to finally meet Jimmie's family and we are looking forward to having them visit this summer.

Next on the agenda, to catch up on all the Facebook tags that people keep sending me.

ROAD TRIP!

Author's note: Due to technical difficulties, this entry was delayed.

Well, half a road trip.

About ten days ago, we found out that Amanda needs to be in AZ on Tuesday and I wanted to go too. Having become accustomed to flying when I want to get somewhere farther than four hours away, I decide we should fly. I check airfares. OUCH! $210 each way for each of us. OK, I can drive, pay for gas and pay myself a salary for that amount of moola. So, we decide we are going to drive.

I talk with my boss about taking a week off. Guess what! He has a car in California and a closet full of "stuff" that he needs to get to AZ. He was going to take it in March. Would I like to take the car down and fly back? Uh, let's see. Drive the boss' car; stay at the boss' house; not have to take three days of vacation and fly on his miles that are going to expire. Yep!! Win, Win for both parties.

I went and picked up the car today and packed an entire closet into the back of a Ford Freestyle. Hubby and Boss both think I should have taped it and sent it to Ford. They have never seen so much stuff put in a car and still have room for people to travel safely. (Thanks for handing down that talent, Dad.)

January 12

To my family:

Thinking of you, fondly and introspectively, on this anniversary. We have changed and grown in numbers and strength and I know Dad is proud of all of us.

Keep up the good work. I know I am.

12 of 12 January 2009

The day started out like the usual Monday. Me over sleeping. There is something about the winter months and arising before the sun that gets the brain into the sleep more mode. So, I decided to wait for the sun to rise.

If you are new to 12 of 12, it is a great photo essay-type of project started by Chad Darnell, the most amazing person I have become acquainted with through cyberspace.

You take 12 photos of your day on the 12th of each month. Then you post them. Simple. And Fun. Enjoy this month's set of photos.

Good Morning, Boy. 6:10am Elverta CA. The strange look is because we were over an hour late for feeding the horses. We "messed" up Boy's routine. And, he still won't come in the house.

The sun, trying to overcome the clouds, some fog and get above the trees. Elverta CA 7am

I just could not resist the colors. They just kept changing from moment to moment. Elverta CA.

Random thoughts

Here it is already the sixth of the month and I have yet to finishing uploading the 2008 review in photos. Fortunately, the 12 is on a Monday, so at least I know I will get those photos up more timely this month.

No other real news. Haven't had a lesson in weeks, between the cold, Heather going to Las Vegas because Megan was the top rider in our region, and oh, yea, the truck died. Don't know what is wrong with it, but for the first time in my driving lifetime, I was not behind the wheel when the vehicle died. I can recall at least a dozen vehicle malfunctions and ALWAYS, always, I was driving. Yea, I know that doesn't make me responsible; just feel snake bit. Glad I wasn't in route to or from the barn. So, 2009 will be getting off to a bit of slow start riding wise, but other than that it is going to be a good year. I command it to be so; therefore, it will.

The 21st Century Green Acres ranch is settling in nicely with its newest residents. Now, if I could just get Boy to not bark when Amanda gets home at 11pm each night (she's coming home from work), then all will be good for sleeping.

HAPPY 21ST ANNIVERSARY

Twenty-one years ago this day, my lovely spouse decided to accept me into his family for better or worse.

I believe there has been many more betters than worses and so does he.

Here's to at least twenty-one more.
